Jordin Sparks and Craig Robinson have teamed up to cover “Purple Rain” in honor of Prince‘s 62nd birthday.
Filmed and recorded remotely, Sparks and Robinson sing the song, while Grammy-winning producer Keith Harris backs them on drums. “Purple Rain” is the title track from the 1984 album and movie of the same name.
Prince, who died at 58 in 2016, would have turned 62 on Sunday, June 7. He died of an accidental overdose of the opioid fentanyl.
Prince’s estate put out a hand-written letter from Prince’s archives in which he wrote, “Nothing more ugly in the whole wide world than INTOLERANCE (between) Black, white, red, yellow, boy or girl. INTOLERANCE.”
