PPL UK has revealed that Ed Sheeran was the most-played-artist of the year 2019.
It is now for the fourth time that the singer has achieved this remarkable feat in the past five years alone, with Calvin Harris, Coldplay, Jess Glynne, and Little Mix being the only other musical acts to be featured in the top 10 spots of the list for a total of four times.
“British music was particularly popular, with Ed Sheeran maintaining his popularity while acts such as Tom Walker and Mabel established themselves on the airwaves,” shared Peter Leathem, Chief Executive Officer, PPL.
He added, “Congratulations to all those featured in our charts as well as the music businesses that invest in and support their success.”
Harris and Rag ‘n’ Bone Man‘s collaborative track, “Giant” has been listed as the song to have received the most number of plays over the year, with the former also being the second-most played artist of the country.
