Melissa Etheridge opened up about how she is recovering from the death of her son in an emotional interview.
Melissa’s 21-year-old son Beckett died due to an opioid addiction in May.
“He loved to snowboard and that’s where he broke his ankle and that’s what started the whole downward spiral of pain killers,” she said in an interview with “Good Morning America.”
“As a parent, you know your children have their own lives and make their own choices — but you just can’t help to feel responsible, of course, for them,” Etheridge told “GMA’s” Robin Roberts.
“It’s only been a couple of months, but I’ve been very busy and made myself busy. You go one day at a time and you get through the grief and you get to the healing. I wanted to come back to the world and say, ‘Thank you for your thoughts and your prayers and your feelings and your sending of love to me and my family,’” the musician and activist added.
